Whether you opt for laser hair removal or IPL depends on skin type and and area of the body. At Beautylase, we work with Lynton Lasers who are leaders in the field of medical laser equipment. We use an IPL system that is both fast with the option to have large spot sizes adapted especially to cover larger areas such as legs and backs. We treat skin types I-IV.

Protecting the skin is essential to reduce any possible side effects. For sensitive areas, the skin is cooled prior to treatment. After the treatment, it is essential to wear an Spf on a daily basis for parts of the body that are exposed to sunlight.

How many treatments do I need?

The duration of a treatment and number of sessions required are individual to each person.

Number of treatments can range from 4 to 15 treatments in function of zones and hormonal makeup. These sessions are spread out in accordance to the hair growth cycle which can vary from one part of the body to another. An estimate of the number of sessions needed will be given by a specialist practitioner after a consultation and patch test.

The number of sessions required is determined by 2 factors: The area being treated and the strength of the treatment. Less sessions are necessary for under arms, bikini and ½ leg whilst normally more are required for facial hair, backs and thighs. Paler skin with darker hair will be the fastest to react.

An interval of between 3 to 4 weeks is required between the first and second and third session. Thereafter, the sessions are spaced according to the growth of the remaining hairs. Men’s hormonal makeup as well as a tendency for male hairs to be slightly deeper rooted may necessitate more visits than would be necessary to treat the same body part on a female.

Advice – Consultation and Patch Test

As a Beautylase client, we feel it is your right to be looked after by a competent and experienced specialist practitioner using the most up to date technology. It is also necessary to ascertain whether or not an individual is suitable for treatment.

A consultation and patch test with an experienced specialist practitioner is mandatory before starting any kind of Laser/ IPL hair reduction treatment. In conformity with current rules and regulations, the specialist practitioner will determine whether or not you are suitable for treatment and will exercise their expertise to advise you as to the likely outcome of a treatment. It is after the consultation and patch test that the specialist practitioner will give you an accurate quote for the cost of a treatment. The consultation and patch test cost £25 but are refunded against purchase a course of IPL treatment over £300, provided this is within 14 days from the date of the consultation.

Treatment can commence 1 week after a patch test at Beautylase.

Equipment & Technology

There is a lot of confusion as to what technology is best for hair removal. Beautylase work in collaboration with long established and respected Lynton Lasers www.lynton.co.uk. For hair removal, we use the Luminette Advance IPL system which delivers swift results. The Luminette delivers a broad spectrum light which is absorbed by the melanin in the hair. It has Interchangeable Light Guide (ILG) enabling us to treat large areas quickly and small areas precisely whilst reducing bulk tissue heating by up to 80% to protect the skin against over treatment.
